Winning of Ni, Cu, Zn, Co and Mn is straightforward with our anodes. In electro recovery, metals such as Ni, Cd, Cu, Zn, Sn, Ag and Au are recovered from process water or wastewater. These processes require stable, low overpotential and non-contaminating anodes. Titanium anodes are the perfect match.

Electrowinning

Metal winning is based on the electrochemical deposition of metals (Cu, Ni, Zn, Co, Mn) on cathodes in highly concentrated metal salt electrolytes. The first generation of anodes in metal winning were made of graphite and lead alloys, both had serious drawbacks due to high overpotential requirement and degradable nature. The latest generation of anodes are manufactured out of titanium, and coated with a mix of precious metal and nonprecious metal oxides. Evoqua’s MAGNETO can customize coatings to the specific needs of the metal winning process, this results in higher purity of the deposited metal, lower oxygen overpotential, increased process efficiency, higher durability and stability due to better corrosion resistance.

Electro Recovery

Due to decreasing lifespans of electronic devices and declining mining resources, there is an increasing global need for the treatment of electronic waste and industrial waste streams containing base metals (Cu, Sn, Ni, Zn, Pb) and value metals (Ag, Au, Pt, Pd). Metal recovery can be done by using electrochemical processes to reclaim these metals.

The advantages over other commonly used metal recovery methods include:

  • Complete recovery of base and value metals with high purity.
  • No or only limited usage of chemicals.
  • Minimum waste generated at the end of the metal recovery process.

For these electrochemical processes the anode forms a key component, MAGNETO can develop a customized coating to assure optimized process performance and product quality.
